Lamborghini confirms Romain Grosjean as its new factory team driver

Another former Formula One driver is making the switch from single-seaters to sports car racing.
Lamborghini Squadra Corse has announced they have signed Formula One veteran Romain Grosjean as their new factory team driver for 2023.

Grosjean, who has previously spent the last two seasons racing at the IndyCar series, will make his debut for Lamborghini at the 2023 24 Hours of Daytona onboard the Huracan GT3 EVO2. He will join the likes of Mark Webber, Sebastien Buemi and Kamui Kobayashi as ex-F1 drivers who made the switch to endurance racing.
In addition to his GT3 programme, Grosjean will also be involved in developing Lamborghini's top-flight endurance racing challenger. Together with drivers Andrea Caldarelli and Mirko Bortolotti, the trio will test Lamborghini Iron Lynx's LMDh race car, which will compete with the likes of BMW, Peugeot, Ferrari and Porsche in a stacked hypercar grid come 2024.

“We are very proud to welcome Romain Grosjean to the Lamborghini family, for this new and exciting period in the history of Squadra Corse. He’s a driver with a huge amount of experience in various categories over the years and will be able to add a great deal of value to both our GT3 programme but more importantly, the development of our LMDh car as well. I am looking forward to seeing Romain out on track in Daytona which will hopefully be the start of a very successful partnership going forward” said Giorgio Sanna, Lamborghini's head of motorsport.
