Juan Pablo Montoya wins 2015 Indianapolis 500
Juan Pablo Montoya bounces back from earlier incident to win second Indy 500

After dropping to as low as 30th during the race, Juan Pablo Montoya wins the 99th running of the Indianapolis 500 after a slingshot move on Will Power on the last turn in the last lap. Montoya's move squeeze a 0.104 second gap ahead of his team mate as they crossed the line.
This is the Penske Racing driver's second 500 win which he won in his first attempt 15 years ago. The tight finish is said to be the fourth closest gap in Indy Car history. "This is what racing in Indy car is all about, racing down to the wire. These guys, Team Penske, did an amazing job. I had the feeling that I had a really good car, but that fight at the end was really, really hard. All the way down to the wire. This is pretty awesome.” said Montoya.

This year's Indianapolis 500 was marred many incidents, one of which involving Montoya himself. A first lap incident between Sage Karam and Takuma Sato. The contact led to a 4 car pileup which collected Ryan Briscoe and James Davison. The yellow flag period was further extended when Simona de Silvestro ran into Juan Pablo Montoya’s car, damaging his rear wheel guard. Montoya dropped to 30th after repairs were made to his car. In the halfway point of the race, Bryan Clauson went wide into turn 4 and crashed into the wall. With less than 30 laps to go, a four car pileup involving Sebastian Saavedra, Jack Hawksworth and Stefano Coletti took place in turn 4. Saavedra was injured in the high speed crash, suffering a contusion to his right foot.

The final caution of the day bunched the field together and racing resumed with 15 laps to go. Montoya had caught up to the leaders along with Charlie Kimball. This made the final lap a 4 way battle for the lead with Montoya overtaking Will Power from the outside and into the lead. Montoya had enough momentum to cross the line ahead of Will Power. In third was Charlie Kimball, Scott Dixon came in fourth and Marco Andretti rounds up the top 5 finishers. With this win, Montoya extends his championship lead over team mate Power by 25 points.
