Jerry Bruckheimer confirms F1 movie sequel in the works
F1 movie producer Jerry Bruckheimer confirms sequel is now in development

The F1 movie starring Brad Pitt was a resounding box office success, grossing over USD 630 million worldwide since its release in June 2025.
With the movie becoming the highest-grossing auto racing film of all time, producer Jerry Bruckheimer has confirmed it – a sequel is officially in the works. Bruckheimer made the statement in an interview with BBC at the annual Academy Awards luncheon in Los Angeles.
This is the first official confirmation of the F1 movie sequel, following months of speculation, and considering the immense success of the film. The movie, which was also co-produced by Lewis Hamilton’s Dawn Apollo Films, follows the journey of Sonny Hayes (Brad Pitt) – a 90s era driver returning to Formula 1 to drive for the struggling APXGP team, run by his former team-mate Rubén Cervantes (Javier Bardem).

The F1 movie was filmed during real F1 race weekends in the 2023 and 2024 seasons, featuring drivers such as Carlos Sainz, Charles Leclerc, Max Verstappen, and Lewis Hamilton himself.
"It was a long journey to get the movie made because we had to endure a couple of strikes – but in the end, the movie entertained audiences around the world," he said of F1 at the Academy Awards luncheon in Los Angeles. "I never worked with Brad Pitt before, and it's really a thrill to work with Brad."
Bruckheimer, however, did not talk about timelines and casting details. Likewise, Brad Pitt reprising his role as Sonny Hayes is still up in the air. But still, the confirmation of the sequel alone gives moviegoers and F1 fans alike plenty to look forward to.
