Honda tweaks production-based V6 Engine for racing applications
The 3.5 V6 found on the Honda Accord and other models is enhanced and will be used in multiple race categories worldwide.

Honda Performance Development (HPD) has announced that the 3.5L V6 production engine that is, in the Philippines, used by the Accord, Odyssey and Pilot will be used for various racing applications around the world.
Dubbed the Honda HR35TT, this comes from Honda’s J35 series of V6 engines and will be twin-turbocharged and comes with direct fuel injections. It will make its racing debut at the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship mounted in a Riley Gen3 prototype chassis at the 2014 Mobil1 12 Hours of Sebring.
This engine was developed by HPD for Starworks Motorsport. They previously worked together in the LMP2 class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and World Endurance Championship in 2012 with the HR28TT twin-turbocharged V6, which is also from Honda's J35 series of engines.
Honda Performance Development (HPD), which celebrated its 20th anniversary last year, is the ‘technical operations center for high-performance Honda racing cars and engines.’
They offer race engines for an assortment of track applications ranging from prototype sports cars to karting. The HPD headquarters, which is found in Santa Clarita, California, also ‘showcases "fun-to-drive" products for professional, amateur and entry-level racers.’
