Honda to compete in seven classes for 2014 Pikes Peak Hill Climb
The Japanese automaker will field entries in the car, motorcycle and all-terrain vehicle categories

Honda will be a participant, sponsor and safety partner in the 2014 Broadmoor Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, which opens on June 23, 2014.
The company said in a press release that it will enter seven vehicles in seven categories for the famous hill climb event, which includes technical support for 2011 Pikes Peak second placer RomainDumas:
1. Car
- Unlimited Class – Romain Dumas (Honda-powered Norma RD Limited)
- Pikes Peak Open Class – James Robinson (Acura NSX)
- Time Attack Class – Sage Marie (Honda S3700)
- Exhibition Class – Corey Taguchi (Honda Fit B-Spec)
- Electric Vehicle Class – Roy Richards (Honda Fit EV)
2. Motorcycle (Middleweight Class) – Zach Jacobs (Honda CBR600RR)
3. All-Terrain Vehicle (450cc Class) – Keith Steidl (Honda TRX 450)
The automaker also said its all-terrain vehicles (ATV) will serve as the event’s official support vehicles.
“Pikes Peak presents us with a unique opportunity to showcase Honda's diverse product lineup and to energize Honda fans around the world, as we work to further strengthen Honda's presence in racing at all levels,” said Art St. Cyr, president of Honda Performance Development.
“Our associates will be working hard between now and Race Day to prepare this diverse field of race vehicles and showcase the Honda Racing Spirit.”
Finally, Honda will be working together with the Pikes Peak sanctioning body to provide race-proven AirFences for certain sections of the course for the motorcycle and ATV categories.
The Pikes Peak International Hill Climb is a 20-km-long time-attack race, with 156 turns, set at the Pikes Peak Mountain in Colorado Springs. The starting point is over 2,680 m high, with the finish at the 4,300-m high summit.
In 2013, Honda entered 10 Pikes Peak classes with 11 vehicles, the most number of entries by a single manufacturer.
