Honda restructures global racing program; launches HRC USA
Honda Performance Development becomes Honda Racing Corporation USA

Honda is looking to make a bigger presence in the world of auto racing.
The Japanese manufacturer has renamed America's Honda Performance Development (HPD) into Honda Racing Corporation USA (HRC US) to reflect the new role of the motorsport arm in the brand's racing efforts.
HPD was Honda's racing division in the US since it was established in 1993 – the same year Honda first participated in the IndyCar series. Apart from that, Honda also participated in the IMSA, Baja Off-Road, Touring Cars, and Formula Regional America under the HPD banner where they were able to achieve multiple championships and wins across multiple racing categories.

Now, HPD is taking on an increased role under the new HRC US, as it will be involved in Honda's Formula One power unit development and race support starting in 2026. This coincides with HRC's new partnership with the Aston Martin Formula One team as its official engine supplier.

HRC US will work with HRC Japan to strengthen Honda's motorsports capabilities. This also opens up Honda's US-developed motorsport vehicles to compete in other races, particularly the Acura ARX-06 LMDh prototype that is seeing much success in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.
The restructuring could lead to Honda competing against the likes of Toyota Gazoo Racing and Ferrari in the World Endurance Championship, and possibly race on the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the near future.
