Honda Civic Type R is ready for 2023 TCR season
New FL5 Civic Type R TCR to replace FK8 race car next season

Honda may have toned down the aggressive looks of the new Civic Type R, but the guys over at JAS Motorsport had other ideas in mind for the competition version.
Here's the new Honda Civic Type R TCR that will race next year. Based on the FL5 platform, it is set to succeed the outgoing FK8 model that JAS Motorsport has been using since 2018.

Both JAS Motorsport nor Honda Racing (HRC) did not go into full detail about the touring car-spec model. But based on its looks, you could tell there was extensive work done to enhance the potential of the FL5 chassis.
The competition-focused version was fitted with a special aerodynamic package that consists of a front splitter, wide fenders, and a huge rear wing. Moreover, JAS Motorsport upgraded the FL5's braking and transmission components for extended track abuse.

Inside, the TCR-spec FL5 features refinements to cockpit ergonomics and was made safer thanks to the mandatory FIA-spec roll cage. A sophisticated multi-channel driver display from Motec has been installed to give important information about the car's vitals as well as lap time splits.
Under TCR rules, race cars must retain most parts of their production counterpart. With that said, the FL5's K20C engine has been retained and should be close to the 330 PS and 407 Nm limit of the TCR regulations.

The TCR series mostly consist of sprint races, but JAS Motorsport says they also have an endurance version of the new Civic Type R that can be raced in championships such as VLN, 24h Series, IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge, and other long-distance events. The endurance version features additional lighting, driver cooling, and optional anti-lock braking together with a revised ‘quick-fill’ fueling system for those all-important pit stops.
No pricing figures have been announced, but JAS Motorsport says delivery of the Civic Type R FL5 TCR to customers is due to start in April 2023.
