The latest Formula One documentary '1: Life on the Limit' is set to make its big screen debut in London on January 10. Coming hot on the heels of Senna and Rush, the action documentary brings the glamour, speed, danger and excitement of the pinnacle of motorsport from the golden age of Formula One during the 1960s and 1970s until the present.

Set during the series' most dangerous era, the film depicts horrific accidents that ultimately cost the lives of talented young drivers and those who stood to improve safety standards. Golden Globe nominated actor and F1 fanatic Michael Fassbender narrates the film produced by Flat-Out Films, Diamond Docs and Spitfire Pictures and directed by acclaimed documentary maker Paul Crowder.
The man behind the Oscar-winning documentary 'The Cove', Mark Monroe writes the story, while co-producers Nigel Sinclair and Michael Shevloff join the team with previous Grammys for 'No Direction Home: Bob Dylan' and 'Foo Fighters: Back And Forth' documentaries.
The film uses rare archive footage featuring the largest list of F1 interviewees ever assembled for a single film. Commentaries come from no less than 12 world champions and several F1 luminaries, they are: Bernie Ecclestone, Max Mosley, Professor Sid Watkins, Jackie Stewart, Niki Lauda, John Surtees, Emerson Fittipaldi, Mario Andretti, Nigel Mansell, Jody Scheckter, Damon Hill, Michael Schumacher, Sebastian Vettel, Lewis Hamilton, Jenson Button, Jacky Ickx and Martin Brundle.
"Millions of people worldwide watch the Formula One races as the circus travels the globe, but there are many who just don't know the history behind this, at one time, incredibly dangerous sport," comments Crowder. "Our film conveys the essence of the era while telling this story and giving intimate insight into the life and personality, struggles and triumphs of racing's pivotal characters."
"We set out to truly capture the spirit and soul of Formula One, the smell and the sounds, the charisma of the drivers and the pioneering spirit of a different generation. It was such a distinct period, so raw and real," adds Shevloff.
Aside from London, '1' is going on limited cinema release in selected markets. Producers are also planning a DVD release on March 17. The film is currenly available to download on the iTunes Store in digital form at $14.99.
