Formula E attracting more motorsports talents
Drivers have yet to be signed by Formula E teams but the depth of talents speaks a lot about the intense interest in electric car racing.

Last January and February, we reported on a number of motorsports drivers lending their support to Formula E by signing up for driver camp. Today that list grows further and is attracting top talent in a race series that has yet to even hit the track.
Formula E has gained more attention now with three former Formula 1 drivers and a Formula Renault 3.5 driver throwing their names in the list for consideration to gain a seat in a Formula E racecar.
Jarno Trulli, Nick Heidfeld and Jérôme d'Ambrosio headline this cast of four drivers that include Sam Bird.
Of the four, Jarno Trulli has the most experience having driven 256 F1 Grand Prix in his career and comes in third only to Rubens Barrichello, Michael Schumacher.
Nick Heidfeld was Kimi Räikkönen’s teammate in Sauber and he tallied 13 podiums and gained 359 points during his stint with F1.
Jerome d’Ambrosio drove for Marussia in F1 and was a reserve driver for Lotus F1 in 2012 and 2013.
Sam Bird has been successful with Formula Renault 3.5 and tested for Williams and Mercedes F1.
The final lineup of drivers for the inaugural Formula E season will have to be determined by the respective teams although this early, Audi Sport ABT Formula E Team has submitted Lucas di Grassi and Daniel Abt as confirmed drivers.
“It’s great to be selected as part of the Formula E Drivers’ Club. This series has huge potential and I’m excited to see the technological progress of electric vehicles and their place in the future of motorsport,” said Jarno Trulli.
Complete profiles of all drivers in the Formula E Drivers’ Club are available at www.fiaformulae.com/drivers.
