Ford unveils 2017 F-150 Raptor race truck
Ford enters 2017 Raptor in this year's Best in the Dirt championship

For this year, Ford Racing will be entering the 2017 F-150 Raptor in the production class of the Best in the Dirt racing series. Ford entered the Raptor in six rounds where they aim to demonstrate how a truck developed for high-speed off-roading is capable for competition.

The F-150 Raptor race truck joins the Ford Fiesta as the company's off-road racing vehicle. The Fiesta currently runs the World Rally Championship, Global Rallycross Championship and various production rally championships worldwide.
“The all-new Raptor has the DNA of a Baja race truck, with a purpose-built engine, chassis and suspension that enables it to travel fast over challenging desert landscapes or crawl over rocky terrain,” said Jamal Hameedi, chief engineer, Ford Performance.

Powering the racing Raptor is a 3.5 liter Ecoboost V6 that produces 'Over 411 horsepower' and 588 Nm of torque. For competition, the truck retains the company's first ever 10-speed automatic along with the factory four-wheel drive system with a torque-on-demand transfer case.
Modifications done to the F-150 Raptor race truck includes a race-optimized three-inch-diameter external-bypass front and rear Fox Racing Shox, raised suspension and standard roll-cage. It also comes with MasterCraft seats with five-point harness safety belts and window nets, LED light bars, racing fuel cell, Lowrance GPS, RacePak digital dash and data logger.
