It was a fight until the very end, at least for the 2011 WTCC Drivers Championship between Chevrolet drivers Rob Huff and Yvan Muller. It was made even more exciting as both drivers managed to qualify in the first row for the final rounds of the championship on the Guia Circuit of Macau. Huff managed to set the fastest lap for the qualifying session to wrap up Chevrolet's domination of qualifying of the 2011 season with twelve out of twelve pole positions.

For Round 23, it was a hotly contested battle between Huff and Muller as the two were virtually have the a race of themselves in the front row. Despite two occasions of the safety car coming out, Huff managed to stay ahead. As Muller continued to put pressure on his teammate in hopes to force a mistake, the Briton simply maintained focus and stayed cool on the lead. Gabriele Tarquini managed to collected another podium result ahead of Tom Coronel, while Michel Nikyaer finished in fifth winning the Yokohama Trophy. With the victory, Huff manages to cut down Muller's lead to 13 points for the championship.

For the 24th and final round, a good start by Michel Nikyaer and Tom Coronel would prove troublesome for the British driver who needed to get ahead of the two. But it proved no problem for Huff as he eventually manages to overtake the two midway through the race. At one point of the race, it was about to be a deadlock between Huff and Muller for the championship, which would later be decided counting back on the number of victories and podium finishes. Muller, who was in a much more relaxed and controlling position simply solved the problem by slipping ahead of Nikyaer taking third position to take his third WTCC championship with a three-point margin. The race ended with Huff taking the checkered flag, with Tom Coronel in second and Muller in third.

Three would prove to be a good number for Muller for this season, winning his third championship with a three point gap after a third place finish.

For the Chevrolet team, it was a season of dominance where the team scored the championship way ahead of the series finale. It was all about the numbers after the feat; 21 victories out of 24 races, 12 pole positions out of 12, 19 fastest laps out of 24, 256 laps led out of 347.
