FIA postpones 2020 Chinese GP, may be held at a later date
FIA looking to hold the 2020 Chinese Grand Prix in Shanghai at a later date

Yesterday, we reported that this year's Chinese Grand Prix might be postponed due to the ongoing Covid-19 outbreak in the People's Republic. With over 1,100 deaths and more than 45,000 individuals affected by the disease, the FIA was supposedly considering to postpone the said race.
With the virus still spreading in the country, many lives are at risk of being infected with the dreaded Covid-19. In light of this, the Federation of Automobile and Motorcycle Sports of People's Republic of China (CAMF) and the Shanghai Administration of Sports, have officially requested that the 2020 Formula 1 Chinese Grand Prix be postponed.
The FIA, together with Formula 1, have recently decided to accept the official request from the promoter and postpone the 2020 FIA Formula 1 Chinese Grand Prix that was originally scheduled to take place on April 19. In a statement, both the FIA and Formula 1 treat the current health situation with utmost concern. With the World Health Organization (WHO) declaring the Covid-19 as a global health emergency, the FIA and Formula 1 have taken measures to ensure the health and safety of the travelling staff, participants, and fans.
The racing bodies will continue to work with the teams, race promoter CAMF, as well as with the authorities in order to monitor the situation as it develops. In addition, all concerned parties will look into the matter of the viability for potential alternative dates for the Grand Prix later in the year should the situation improve.
With the Chinese GP officially postponed, it looks like the long four-week gap between the Vietnam GP (April 15) and the new Dutch GP (May 3) will happen. The FIA F1 community is looking forward to racing in China as soon as possible and wishes everyone in the country the best during this difficult time.
