While kids usually keep themselves busy with computer games and other electronic gadgets, these young boys proved their mettle against experienced and veteran drivers in the highly competitive Philippine Karting Championship this year.
The Eagle Cement Racing Team composed of brothers Jomar and Jacob Ang, sons of San Miguel Corporation and Philippine Airlines President Ramon Ang; EJ Coseteng, son of the multi-awarded Philippine Touring Car Champion Jody Coseteng; and Luis Gono, son of Motul Philippines and auto performance giant Autoplus Sportzentrium owner Carlos Gono; recently bagged top honors in the 2012 championship despite starting late into the season. VJ Suba, the more experienced driver of the team is currently leading the ROK Senior Class and is Second Overall in the ROK Series with two races to go.
Team Principal Ramon Ang expressed his delight with the results of the team. “I am impressed with the results considering that the four boys joined this year’s karting season late with 150 pts behind in the championship,” stated Ang.
Driving behind the wheel of his SQ Kart, Luis Gono chalked up 14 race wins and 1 second place finish out of 15 races left to clench 2012 SQ Novice Karting Class Championship. Jacob Ang, who shares the passion for speed of his renowned businessman father, bagged third place overall in the Cadet Novice Class, with EJ Coseteng clinching fourth place overall.
