Drift King Tsuchiya-driven R32 GT-R up for auction

Have you ever wanted to own a piece of Japanese racing history? Well soon you can…that’s if your pockets are deep enough. BH Auctions is currently organizing the sale of some of Team TAISAN’s famous racers including the iconic Taisan-STP Group A R32 GT-R. More so, this specific car was driven by none other than Keiichi Tsuchiya during its heyday back in the All Japan Grand Touring Car Championship (JGTC), which was later renamed to the Super GT we know today. 

Not much details on the legendary Group A racer has been posted as of writing. However, it does mention that this car competed in JTC/Class 1 in during the 1991 season. Aside from the Dori King, it was also driven by Kunimitsu Takahashi. Unlike touring cars of today though, the Taisan-STP Group A R32 looks identical to its road-going GT-R counterparts albeit with center lock wheels and an aggressive suspension setup. Under the hood, it continues to use the GT-R’s RB26DETT engine which has been tuned to produce around 500 horsepower.

Aside from the Group A R32, it’s younger sibling, the Taisan-Gaia Power R35 GT-R Nismo GT3/Super GT car is also included in the lot. The car competed in the 2014 Super GT season in the GT300 Class. The VR38 engine found in this Super GT car is capable of producing a maximum of 550 horsepower.

Other cars in the list include Team Taisan’s first ever JGTC car, the Taisan-Star Card Ferrari F40. While it did race in JGTC, it was originally a road-going F40 which was converted to LM-spec and for race use. That said, the car is still currently street legal, and still runs plates to prove it. A Lola INDY 500 car, other Taisan racers, rare parts and a couple of classic racers are also set to go under the hammer.
