Davao Mayor Rody Duterte offers PhP1-million bounty for Enzo Pastor's killer

The heat is being turned up on the investigation into the high profile murder of race car driver Ferdinand 'Enzo' Pastor from an unlikely source: Davao City's Mayor Rodrigo Duterte.

According to various reports, the Mayor of Davao City, Rodrigo G. Duterte is personally offering a PhP 1,000,000 bounty for any information that leads to the arrest of the suspects in the brutal slaying of Enzo Pastor in Quezon City on the night of June 12, 2014.

Pastor was gunned down at the intersection of Visayas Avenue and Congressional Avenue in Quezon City by masked men. Several 45 caliber shell casings were found on the scene after the suspects fled aboard a motorcycle. No arrests have been made in connection to the killing of Pastor.

Duterte reportedly cited his personal friendship with the Pastor family as his reason for the increased reward offer. Duterte was reported as saying that he is acting in a personal capacity with regards to the bounty and that he thought the investigation was taking too long.

"His tragic death was not only a loss to his family and children, but it was a loss for the country as well," Duterte told Newsdesk Asia. "I want to make sure that the perpetrators of this crime are found and brought to justice."

This is not the first time that the Davao Mayor announced bounty for the arrest of criminal elements. Last year, Duterte said that anyone who captures or kills a high-profile drug dealer will receive either a brand new Isuzu Crosswind or a Mitsubishi Montero Sport, respectively.

Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte has been nicknamed 'The Punisher' by Time Magazine for his approach in maintaining peace and order in his city.
