Citroen took the top three grid spots after dominating qualifying of the FIA World Touring Car Championship at Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium. Yvan Muller, Sebastien Loeb and Jose Maria Lopez were able to complete perfect Q3 laps.
Muller took pole position beating Loeb by a mere 0.145 seconds, while Lopez was classified third. Chevrolet’s Hugo Valente qualified in fourth and Honda’s Tarquini in fifth.
Starting in pole position, Yvan Muller took a commanding win in the first race besting his teammates Loeb and Lopez at the La Source hairpin during the start and never looked back. The only change in position came when Lopez outbraked Loeb at the end of the straight on the final lap.
As a result, Citroen claimed the 1-2-3 podium finish after the first race while Chevrolet’s Gianni Morbidelli finished in fourth and Honda’s Tiago Monteiro in fifth.

During the second race, Citroen’s Lopez managed to finish ahead of the pack by using to his advantage the superior speed of the car. Muller came in at second and Chevrolet’s Tom Coronel finished in third. Honda’s Monteiro finished in fourth while Citroen’s Loeb couldn’t do better than fifth.
After rounds 13 and 14 of the 2014 FIA WTCC, Citroen’s Lopez leads the drivers’ championship points with 255. Behind Lopez are his teammates Muller with 216 and Loeb with 190.
The 2014 FIA WTCC will resume after a five-week break at Termas de Rio Hondo, Argentina, on August 3.
