Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R: More aero, less power
This Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R is available for customers

One of the wildest vehicles Chevrolet recently launched is the all-new Corvette Z06. Compared to the standard Corvette Stingray C8, it packs more aero and a more powerful engine, a naturally aspirated 5.5-liter flat-plane V8 that produces 670 horsepower and 623 Nm of torque. As a result, 0 to 97 km/h only takes 2.7 seconds.

But for those that find the Z06 still lacking, Chevrolet has an even wilder Corvette for you. There is a catch, though. It's not street legal. Meet the Corvette Z06 GT3.R.
The GT3.R shares the same aluminum chassis and 5.5-liter LT6 V8 engine as the road-going Z06. But as the R in the name implies, this car is meant for racing. It's effectively a turn-key Z06 race car but with more aero, including revised bumpers, side skirts, and a large rear wing. In addition, there are center-lock wheels wrapped in racing slick tires. Interestingly, Chevy says it has a similar aerodynamic silhouette as the road car apart from the large wing and other aero bits.

Ironically, this race car won't be as powerful as the road car. According to Chevrolet, the Z06 GT3.R will only produce around 500 to 600 horsepower due to series regulations. The power limitation will allow it to be compliant with FIA GT3 regulations, which the GT3.R is aimed at. The 8-speed dual-clutch has also been dropped in favor of a 6-speed sequential gearbox. There are also large 6-piston and 4-piston brakes to stop the car in a dime.

Chevrolet has not released a price for the Corvette Z06 GT3.R just yet. However, if you are interested in one, be prepared to pay a lot more over a standard Z06. Final specs and details are expected to be revealed next year closer to its official arrival.
