Cadillac teases 2023 GTP hypercar for Le Mans
The GTP hypercar must weigh at least 2,270 pounds and generate 670 HP with a hybrid setup

Cadillac has a rich racing heritage and this year, there is certainly a louder buzz in the racing community after the American automaker teased, via Twitter, their 2023 hypercar.

Cadillac will join other brands like Acura, Audi, BMW, and Porsche on the GTP circuit. They will also do battle on the LMH side with more brands like Ferrari, Peugeot, ByKolles, Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus, and Toyota. The new racer has been designed to comply with IMSA and ACO regulations. It is scheduled to make its debut at the Rolex 24 at Daytona in January 2023. It will also compete in the 24 hours of Le Mans.
The convergence of EU and American regulations have enticed manufacturers to recommit to the IMSA and WEC series, which should make this an interesting season to watch as we get to see technologies from the other players in action as well.

According to the tweet, the hypercar will debut on June 9 of this year. So far, based on the teasers, it features a complex LED light system and has a forged carbon fiber front splitter. A Cadillac badge is painted on the nose and a flying buttress over the front wheel is designed to aid in aerodynamics.
Powertrain details remain unclear but as per reports, it’s being developed alongside the Dallara. Cadillac’s lead creative designer Chris Makalauskas mentioned that it will combine form and function elements of Cadillac’s DNA such as the vertical lightning and floating blades will be present throughout. He also stated that these characteristics will also be seen in the V-Series vehicles.

Does Cadillac have a winner with this entry to the top-tier sports car races? Only time will tell. Let’s all stay tuned as this may just help advance Cadillac's V-Series should it contend on the track.
