Cadillac is making F1 engines for 2028
Cadillac registers with FIA as F1 power unit manufacturer for 2028

While the Andretti Cadillac Formula One team is still awaiting final approval from F1 management, their bid is getting a significant boost.
General Motors has announced they have registered with the FIA as a Formula One power unit manufacturer under the Cadillac brand for 2028, taking advantage of the regulation changes aimed towards sustainable racing.
Unlike the Red Bull-Ford arrangement where Red Bull has the oversight of the core combustion engine and Ford in the hybrid side of things, Cadillac will be building both the ICE and hybrid system. This makes the Andretti Cadillac entry the most complete package since Toyota entered F1 in 2002.
Under the Cadillac brand, General Motors has had its fair share of relevant experience in developing hybrids for racing. Currently, their V-Series R LMDh race car has proved to be a competitive package, running a 5.5-liter V8 hybrid with a chassis made by Dallara. In the most recent 24 Hours of Le Mans, Cadillac finished 3rd, just behind the full works entries of Ferrari and Toyota.
“We are thrilled that our new Andretti Cadillac F1 entry will be powered by a GM power unit. With our deep engineering and racing expertise, we’re confident we’ll develop a successful power unit for the series, and position Andretti Cadillac as a true works team. We will run with the very best, at the highest levels, with passion and integrity that will help elevate the sport for race fans around the world, ” said GM President Mark Reuss.
