Built to slide: HKS reveals 700 HP 2JZ-swapped Toyota Supra drift car
HKS builds a 2JZ-swapped Toyota GR Supra for drifting

It seems tuners in Japan have a thing for swapping the ever-reliable 2JZ-GTE into the all-new Toyota Supra. After Daigo Saito and Masato Kawabata revealed their competition-spec 2JZ-powered A90 Supra earlier this year, HKS has now introduced their very own 2JZ swapped A90 Supra drift car. Just like most HKS cars, it will be piloted by none other than Nobuteru “Nob” Taniguchi.

When it comes to specs, the HKS Supra is built similarly to that of Saito’s car (considering he is sponsored by HKS). The factory 3.0-liter 2JZ-GTE has been completely rebuilt and now produces 3.4 liters and is coupled with an HKS GTIII-4R turbo. According to HKS, power is rated at around 700 horsepower and 884 Nm of torque, but can produce more on a different tune. It rides on HKS Hipermax coilovers on all four corners as well as custom suspension parts to improve handling.

Inside, the cabin has been completely gutted and now features a custom dashboard, Bride bucket seat and Nardi steering wheel. Much like the other 2JZ-swapped Supras, the HKS Supra features a widebody kit paired with a massive GT Wing. The setup allows the company to fit wide Advan GT wheels wrapped in sticky Advan tires. That said, the classic HKS livery does look a lot better on the A90 compared to Saito and Kawabata’s competition liveries.

The HKS Supra will be making its public debut by drifting its way up Lord March’s driveway at the Goodwood Festival of Speed this coming July 4 to July 7. Expect it to make its competition debut later on both in D1 Grand Prix and Formula Drift Japan.
