Buemi victorious in 2016 Berlin ePrix
Sebastien Buemi secures 2016 ePrix Berlin victory

Renault's Sebastien Buemi took the checkered flag at the 2016 Formula E ePrix Berlin. With it, the Swiss racing driver reduced Lucas di Grassi's lead in the driver standing to just one point.
Buemi's third win of the season however was not a cakewalk as the race was hounded by a series of black and orange flags due to multiple damages on the racecars..
Off the line, Buemi overtook the lead car in turn 1 which was piloted by Jean-Eric Vergne of DS Virgin Racing. However, Vergne was able to reclaim the top spot and Buemi was left to contend with second place again. Not to be outdone by the Frenchman, Buemi pressured Vergne and was able to make a slick pass to regain first place during lap two.

Vergne then dropped down to third place after being overtaken by Nicolas Prost of France DMS on lap ten. He then further dropped to fifth place after damaging his front wing on the chicane. The other racecars also got the orange and black flag treatment and had to hit the pits. Among those included NEXTEV cars of Olive Turney and Nelson Piquet Jr., Rene Rast of Team Aguri and Sam Bird of DS Virgin.
After restarting the race, Buemi maintained his lead and kept the others at bay with an 11-second lead in lap 28. Battling for second and third were teammates Daniel Abt and Lucas Di Grassi. The Brazilian racing driver planned to overtake Abt for a second place win but was halted when the safety car was deployed with just two laps to go. Ultimately, Abt won the race in second place while di Grassi had to contend for third.
Finishing fourth place was Buemi's teammate Prost while maintaining fifth was Vergne. At sixth place was Robin Frijns from Andretti Racing who originally started at 12th place. Meanwhile, securing seventh and eighth place were Nick Heidfield of Mahindra and Mike Conway of Venturi Racing. Completing the top ten finishers of the 2016 ePrix Berlin were Simona de Silvestro and Stephane Sarrazin from Andretti and Venturi respectively.

Still at the top of the driver standings is Lucas di Grassi with 141 points. Right behind him is Sebastien Buemi with 140 points. Sitting at third is Sam Bird of DS Virgin Racing with 82 points.
The 2015-2016 season finale is set to take place in London from July 2-3, 2016.
