Audi brings e-tron Vision Gran Turismo from video game to reality
Audi creates fully functioning e-tron Vision Gran Turismo concept, to become Formula E race taxi

Vision Gran Turismo vehicles are often nothing more than just fictional concept cars developed soley for the virtual world of Gran Turismo. More so, these vehicles are usually designed to extremes, that having a fully functioning model in real life would be next to impossible. Audi however, seems to think to otherwise.

The German marque recently introduced the e-tron Vision Gran Turismo, both in Gran Turismo Sport and in reality. Unlike other Vision GT cars that made an appearance in real life however, Audi's all-electric racer is fully functioning.
Powering the e-tron Vision Gran Turismo are three electric motors, each producing a peak power of 272 PS. The combined output of 816 PS is then sent to a permanent all-wheel drive system with two motors driving the rear axle and the third powering the front wheels. Furthermore, the all-electric race only weighs 1,450 kg and is said to have a 50:50 weight distribution. Combined, this allows the concept car to go from 0-100km/h in less than 2.5 seconds.

Audi's new electric racer will also be taking part in the upcoming Formula E events. The e-tron Vision Gran Turismo is posied to become the series' race taxi. Customers and guests of the brand will be able to 'experience Formula E's upcoming city circuits as passengers' in the vehicle. It will make it's debut as a race taxi in the inaugural Rome E-Prix this coming April 14.
“In our development laboratory motorsport, we are continuously expanding our expertise in e-mobility and gathering valuable experience also in extremely demanding conditions. With the Audi e-tron Vision Gran Turismo race taxi we are turning electric mobility into a tangible experience for our customers and guests as part of the Formula E races – in the middle of the world’s metropolises,” said Peter Mertens, member of the board of management at Audi.
