Aston Martin, Red Bull Racing to part ways after 2020

A few days ago, we reported that Aston Martin's money woes have been solved after billionaire Lawrence Stroll led a consortium to take a major stake in the ailing company for a hefty £500 million (Php 33.4 billion).

Not only that, Aston Martin will join next season's Formula 1 Racing as well. They will do so by renaming the current Racing Point team (which Stroll also owns) to the Aston Martin F1 works team. All seems well and good, but what does this mean for Aston Martin Red Bull Racing?

Well according to the Milton Keynes-based team, Aston Martin will continue to be their title partner for the remainder of the 2020 season. After this year, however, the contract will not be extended since Aston Martin will officially be joining the competition starting 2021.

In a statement, Red Bull Racing has agreed to release Aston Martin from its Formula 1 exclusivity clause. This, in turn, has allowed the automaker to have the necessary investment required to re-finance and pursue alternative opportunities within the sport.

Red Bull Racing did mention that their Advanced Technologies division will continue to work with Aston Martin to deliver the Valkyrie hypercar, with scheduled deliveries set to begin by the end of the year.

“We thank Aston Martin for their support over the past four years in which time we have achieved 12 wins, 50 podiums, and six pole positions together. We wish Aston Martin’s employees and shareholders all the best for the future and our focus remains on working together throughout the 2020 season and ending our partnership on a high,” said the company in a statement.

With Red Bull Racing set to be on their own again once 2020 comes to a close, we're curious whether Red Bull Racing will be looking for another partner for the next season of Formula 1 racing. As for Aston Martin, we cannot wait to see what they will deliver to the Formula 1 racing scene come next year.
