All-new Shelby FP350S Mustang is ready for the track
Race-prepped Shelby FP350S unleashed for the American racing scene

Ford continues to roll out race-ready versions of its pony car after the automaker took the covers off their latest creation, the Shelby FP350S. Following in the footsteps of the GT350R-C and GT4 racecars, the FP350S was purpose-built to compete at road race events like Trans Am, National Auto Sport Association (NASA) and the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA).
“Our goal has always been to provide those who want to race with equipment that enables them to compete and win. The Shelby FP350S is out latest example,” said Dave Pericak, global director, Ford Performance.
Beginning with its exterior revisions, the race-ready Mustang gets a new aerokit for better downforce and airflow. Dominating at the front is a large splitter while the rear section gets an adjustable rear wing made from carbon fiber. Equipped as standard are the 19-inch alloy wheels but Ford also mentioned that 18-inch forged racing wheels can also be fitted for the FP350S.
As far as the chassis is concerned, Ford claimed they modified the unibody frame with seam welding while a six-point FIA-approved roll cage provides better in-car protection. The racing seat comes courtesy of Sparco while a Motec data logger gathers important racing data for the team. Rounding up the cabin equipment is the quick-release steering wheel.

Driving the rear wheels of the Shelby FP350S is a tuned 5.2-liter V8 that's been prepped by Ford Performance. It is then connected to a Tremec 3160 manual gearbox that comes with an integral oil pump and a 3.73 rear final drive ratio.
Other performance add-ons installed by the company include: racing exhaust, high-performance oil pan and oil cooler and race-oriented suspension components, electrically-adjustable steering calibrations and uprated brakes.
Those interested in getting Ford Performance's latest pony racing car will be glad to know it will be arriving at Ford dealerships in the US soon.
