Al-Attiyah wins 2015 Dakar Rally, fourth straight win for Mini

After racking up 9,000 km through 13 legs of race in Argentina, Bolivia and Chile, Qatari driver Nasser Al-Attiyah wins the 2015 Dakar Rally under the car category after crossing the finish line at Argentina's capital, Buenos Aires with a time of 40:32:25.

Al-Attiyah drove the Mini ALL4 Racing throughout the 2015 season and was able to win 5 out of 13 legs of the rally. Al-Attiyah finished last year's season in third place while his previous first place win was back in 2011 with Volkswagen. Al-Attiyah's 2015 victory also marked Mini's fourth overall win in the Dakar Rally.

"I promised last year when I was on the podium that I'd be back to win, and now I'm here. It was very hard to lead the race from the very beginning and to continue keeping this position on the long distance. Also because the race was really hard. I'm very happy about this great result and I want to thank and congratulate all mechanics and the team for the great job they have done during the two weeks. The MINI ALL4 Racing is an incredible car and it was again very nice to drive," said Al-Attiyah.

Spanish rally racing motorcycle rider Marc Coma and his KTM Red Bull motorcycle finished first under the bike category with a time of 46:03:49. This is Coma's second consecutive win after last year's victory. For the quad category, Polish rider Rafal Sonik powered to his first ever Dakar victory with a time of 57:18:39 on a Yamaha Raptor 700.

A welcoming win for the Russian Kamaz truck team as 28-year old driver Airat Mardeev was able to redeem himself after getting a first place win in the 2015 season with a time of 42:22:01. Last year's race was a disaster for Mardeev as he had to abandon the race after crashing in the 3rd Stage, a disappointing end since the 2013 season landed Mardeev and the team a 2^nd place overall podium finish.
