Team Land Rover Philippines found a new partner in AirAsia Philippines sending the Team AirAsia-Land Rover Philippines father and son duo Larry and Hirryan Mendiola to the 2011 Rainforest Challenge (RFC) in Terengganu, Malaysia. The ten-day off-road tilt set on December 3-12 will be participated by top caliber competitors from around the world. The RFC is considered as one of the world's longest and toughest 4x4 off-road adventure competitions.
"We believe that Filipinos have the talent to excel globally and especially in a sport such as off-roading," said LRPhils Motors Inc. Executive Director, Marc Soong.
The team will be serious contender in the competition after their First Runner-Up finish in the 2010 RFC competition. The Mendiolas will be driving their modified Land Rover Defender 90, powered by a 3.9 liter V8 petrol engine.
"Time and again, the Filipino has proven his dominance in the international 4x4 arena, and in no less than the Malaysian RFC, the longest and arguably the hardest and most unpredictable rainforest challenge." It's also our pleasure to announce that we have AirAsia on board as our official partner in this venture. We are fortunate to have a partner who equally believes in Philippine motorsports and Land Rover," added Soong.
"AirAsia has constantly dedicated itself to supporting sports both here and abroad." We believe that the Land Rover Philippine team will give their best in their quest for the title in the Rainforest Challenge of Malaysia as they have shown in the past competitions," said Maan Hontiveros, CEO, AirAsia, Inc. (Philippines).
