After the dust has settled, and the scores tabulated... championship points leader Robert Abbas of the Cagayan De Oro Off-Roaders was proclaimed the 2003 NAsFOR Driver of the Year after the final leg of the Caltex Delo Sports National 4x4 Series held at the Marikina Riverbanks. The event was hosted by the Land Cruiser Club of the Philippines and was also their 2nd Land Cruiser 4x4 Jamboree.
Abbas' road to victory was not an easy one as he met fierce opposition from Team Tide-Bilstein's Agustin Macmang and Suzuki 4x4 Club's Larry Alberto who kept competition at a very exciting level. "I am really thankful my teammate Richard Emano for his undying support," said Abbas. The awards night for the Off-Roader of the Year was held recently at the Caltex "Gathering of Champions" event at the Westin Philippine Plaza Hotel.
The 2003 Caltex Delo Sports National 4x4 Series was a 4-leg event held at Cagayan de Oro, Davao, Bacolod and Manila. The series was attended by thousands of off-road enthusiasts and competed in by more than one hundred competitors. The series is a project of the National Association of Filipino Off-Roaders.
