The Pikes Peak International Hill Climb also dubbed as the 'Race to the Clouds' will be officially starting this weekend, August 12. On its 90th race, major changes were made, specifically the entire course being paved. While some fans sure miss how the climb used to be(in gravel and dirt) many welcome the changes and the things that come along with it including new cars and drivers participating in the hill climb.
Most of the new entrants this year are in the electric car division, including Pikes Peak legend and reigning champion Nobuhiro “Monster” Tajima who swapped his Suzuki SX4 race car to team APEV's full electric Monster Sport E-Runner, some more electric race cars that will participate includes Mitsubishi's iMiEV, a prototype from Toyota Germany called 'TMG EVP002', a converted electric BMW M3, Summit Her-02, and an HCE Lightning XP12.

Meanwhile, the Unlimited Class is looking good even without Monster Tajima competing in it. Paul Dallenbach is set to take the world record with his 1,400hp winged car named as 'PVA-03', Jean Philippe Dayraut returned this year for his second race on his VIP Challenge Dacia Duster.
Watch out for more news about the 90th Pikes Peak International Hill Climb after the participants take on the hill this weekend.
