Super GT 2014 bound Honda NSX Concept-GT makes debut
Honda has unveiled its latest NSX Concept-GT destined for the GT500 Class of the 2014 Super GT series.

Honda has unveiled its latest NSX Concept-GT destined for the GT500 Class of the 2014 Super GT series. The racecar will make its public debut at Round 5 of the 2013 Super GT Series this weekend at Suzuka Circuit.

This is not the first time the Japanese automaker is fielding a concept model in the series. It is currently campaigning the Honda HSV-010 GT, which it fielded in 2010 to replace the previous generation NSX due to regulation changes requiring front-engine rear wheel drive vehicles. The HSV-010 GT is powered by a 3.4-liter V8 producing 500 PS.

The announcement follows regulation changes for the Japan Automobile Federation's 2014 GT500 class vehicles. The NSX Concept-GT will be equipped with a mid-engine 2.0-liter direct-injection 4-cylinder turbo engine with a racing hybrid system which also pumps out a maximum power output of 500 PS as per class regulation.
The car is based on a unified chassis shared with the DTM series that was developed by a European motorsport group based in Germany and Italy. The new chassis is composed of a carbon-fiber monocoque and steel roll-cage and front, rear and lateral crash elements.

In prototype form, the new-generation NSX recently made its track debut at Mid-Ohio during the 14th round of the IndyCar Series.
