The 2011 Lateral Drift Pro-Am Championship opens this weekend at the Clark International Speedway with turbochargers spooling, a lot of tire smoke and exciting sideways action on April 16 and 17. The season begins with two rounds of non-stop drifting from some of the country's top drivers.
Defending his crown once again is Alex Perez of the Yellow Cab Drift Team. He is however going to be challenged by pro drivers Gio Rodriguez, Jason Choachuy of the Team AutoIndustriya-Ultra Racing, and Francisco Blanco of Team Motul-Autoplus. Last year's amateur division frontrunners Mike Tuason, Bjorn Ongtiaobok, Norman Agojo, and Ryan Agoncillo will surely show their mettle as well this year.
The 1320 Shootout Invitational Drag Race will be a support event, which will run on April 16. It features some of the country's top drag racers in heads-up battles. The winner goes home with a generous cash prize based on the number of participants.
The 2011 Lateral Drift Pro-Am Championship is turbocharged by PLDT myDSL and supported by AutoIndustrya.com, A-toy Customs, DC Shoes, Manila North Tollway Corporation, North Luzon Expressway, Eivissa Superclub, Manila International Auto Show, Speedlab, Wave 89.1, Aikka Paints, Sprocket.ph, Racing Beat, TopGear Philippines, Stoplight TV, Motorcycle magazine, Auto Review and Inquirer.
