15-year old Luis Gono takes pole position for first event of 2014 Toyota Vios Cup Season
Toyota Balintawak team dominates qualifying session, Baranda outqualifies celebs, media again

Ffiteen year old Luis Gono, son of Carlos Gono of AutoPlus, has just topped the qualifying session for the first event of the 2014 Toyota Vios Cup One-Make Race season at the Clark International Speedway. Gono bested drivers with double (or even triple) his age and experience.
The teenaged Gono driving Car 17 clocked in a best time of 2:27.511 for P1, beating the time set by Jason Choachuy driving car 37 (former driver of the AutoIndustriya.com A31 Cefiro drift car) at 2:28.213. Starting from P3 will be karting prodigy Basti Escalante driving Car 77 who set a time of 2:28.291.
The top three positions of the grid are all driving under the banner of Toyota Balintawak.
In P4, P5 and P6 are the cars of Carlos Loinaz (#44 / 2:28.783), followed by Carlos Castaneda (#69 / 2:29.275), and Andres Calma (#97 / 2.29.696). In P7 is Inaki Araneta (#23 / 2:29.945) with Allan Uy (#26 / 2:29.980) right beside him in P8. In the 2:30 second range are drivers Bryan Co (#55 / 2:30.041), Charlie Cojuangco (#99 / 2:30.44) and Pauland Dumlao (#28 / 2:30.372) in P9, P10 and P11, respectively. Actor Dominic Ochoa is in P12 (#25 / 2:30.304)
The polesitter of the Vios Cup Exhibition Race last January 25, model and celebrity Phoemela Baranda is in a solid P13 (#12 / 2:31.220) followed closely by Christopher Kho in P14 (#5 / 2:31.323). Baranda and Kho are racing in the Celebrity and Media divisions, respectively.
They are followed by Tonton Ramos in P15 (#33 / 2:31.440), Ferdi Raquelsantos in P16 (#78 / 2:31.944) and Paul Ang in P17 (#18 / 2:32.934). SportsDesk host Jinno Rufino drives again in the Celebrity class starting from P18 (#10 / 2:32.934), followed by Kyle Reyes in P19 (#38 / 2:33.164) and Manila Bulletin's Anjo Perez in P20 (#9 / 2:33.872) in the Media division.
Rounding out the pack are celebrities DJ Sam YG in P21 (#6 / 2:34.086) and Fabio Ide in P22 (#11 / 2:34.173), Robert Lilles in P23 (#88 / 2:35.980), AutoCar Philippines' Ira Panganiban in P24 (#2 / 2:35.980), Jeje Villena in P25 (#3 / 2:36.065), Philippine Star's Manny Delos Reyes in P26 (#7 / 2:37.063), C! Magazine's Ardie Lopez in P27 (#4 / 2:37.160), actress Rhian Ramos in P28 (#8 / 2:39.386) and Juan Nolasco in P29 (#19 / 2:41.525). P30 will be Marlon Maristela (#73) who was unable to set a time.
