Younger Licup, Goho to lead new Jetour brand in PH
Jetour PH will see a partnership of two major dealer groups

A few days ago, we published a story that a new Chery-owned automobile brand is coming to the Philippines.
That marque is called Jetour, and their debut will be at the Manila International Auto Show in April. Actually that’s how we confirmed it, as the Jetour name appeared on the roster for MIAS 2023.
At first we thought it may be an affiliate of the existing distributor network of Chery in the country but that doesn’t seem to be the case. Actually, we received a rather definitive answer from our source from China that it will not be the case.
There’s more though. Based on new information we received after publishing the article, we can now give it come clarity as to who will be heading up the brand, and needless to say we were very surprised.
Jetour will be led by a partnership of two prominent family names in the local auto retail sector: Licup and Goho. Here’s the interesting part: the people in charge are relatively young.
From what we understand, Jetour Philippines (if that will be the actual name) will have 31-year old Yves Jovincci Licup as President. Teaming up with him as Vice President will be 33-year old Michael Goho.
Licup is a name that is very familiar in the dealership business, as they are very much involved in dealer operations of multiple brands. The Licup portfolio includes Chery, MG, Nissan, Geely, Chevrolet, and probably more. At one point, they were also involved in Volvo.
Goho is likewise a familiar name, and that’s because they run the massive Gateway Motors Group. They have dealerships for Mitsubishi, Honda, Nissan, Suzuki, Kia, Hyundai, BMW, Peugeot, MG, Geely, Chery, Subaru, Chevrolet, Changan, Volvo, Maxus, GAC, Volkswagen, Foton, and Fuso. Basically they have nearly everything.
The brand portfolio of Licup and Goho is interesting because they compete with each other for a lot of brands, yet they’re teaming up for the distributor business of a new brand. That’s actually going to be a new challenge for both, as becoming a distributor and importer is a different ball game.
They will have a very experienced person to turn to, and that’s their Managing Director: Miguelito “Lito” Jose.
Yes, we’ll be keeping our eyes and ears peeled for any developments regarding this story, especially when it comes to their upcoming model line-up. We really only expect crossover SUVs, and that’s what Jetour has a lot of.
