Xiaomi SU7 Ultra EV revealed with 1,548 HP; 0 - 100 km/h in 1.98 seconds

Remember when Xiaomi (yes, the phones, gadgets, and appliances company) revealed the SU7 as their first-ever EV earlier this year? Well, the tech company has just revealed the most powerful version yet of the SU7.

Enter the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra, and while it may sound like a new smartphone from the company, this was built with one thing in mind, to be the fastest mass-production four-door car. In fact, a prototype version of the SU7 Ultra recently claimed the Nurburgring record for having the fastest four-door sedan with a lap record of 6:48.874.

How is this possible? Well, the SU7 Ultra comes with one heck of a powertrain. At the heart of it all is a tri-motor (three electric motors) setup which delivers a total system output of 1,548 PS. No torque figures were mentioned although Xiaomi did claim the SU7 Ultra can catapult itself from 0 – 100 km/h in 1.98 seconds and can reach a blazing 350 km/h top speed.

Power is supplied by a 93.7 kWh CATL Qilin 2.0 nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) battery pack which has a maximum discharge of 1330 kW (or 1808 PS). On a full charge, Xiaomi says the SU7 Ultra can travel up to 630 km based on the CLTC cycle. To ensure the battery's longevity, the NMC battery pack comes with a dual large-surface active cooling system that allows stronger battery heat dissipation and improved safety.

Going fast means the SU7 Ultra has to slow down as quickly as possible. That means the super EV benefits from carbon ceramic disc brakes, high-performance fixed calipers courtesy of Akebono, and powerful brake pads from Endless that can operate at temperatures of up to 1,100 degrees Celsius.

Xiaomi claims the SU7 Ultra was able to achieve a braking distance from 100 km/h to 0 in only 30.8 meters. It was also able to complete ten consecutive 180 km/h to 0 brake tests without fading. Aside from that, the SU7 Ultra also comes with regenerative braking that has a maximum regeneration power of 400 kW – greatly reducing brake system load.

Size-wise, the EV measures 5115mm long, 1970mm wide, 1465mm tall, and has a 3000mm wheelbase. With its more aggressive design, the SU7 Ultra features U-shaped air curtains that increase downforce on the front of the car. It also has an enlarged grille intake that allows for better heat dissipation. There's also an active rear diffuser with a two-speed adaptive adjustment that can be set for daily driving or ultimate track performance. Last but not least, the SU7 Ultra also has a massive rear wing made from carbon fiber.

Thanks to the vehicle's aerodynamic design, the company claims the SU7 Ultra achieves a maximum downforce of 285kg which is comparable to that of a supercar.

The interior of the SU7 Ultra was also given attention to complement the vehicle's performance pedigree. It has uprated seats with active side supports along with exclusive track embroidery stripes. Meanwhile, the steering wheel features a completely new design which adopts a race-designed flat-top and bottom. It's made from carbon fiber and is wrapped in Alcantara.

Speaking of Alcantara, the interior materials of the SU7 Ultra are also made from the microfiber material. These include seat contact surfaces, steering wheel grip areas, dashboard stitching, and interior door panels.

First customer deliveries for the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra will begin in March 2025. Prices will start at CNY 814,900 or around PHP 6.658 million.
