Work on NLEX-C5 Northlink Section 1A officially begins
Construction of first 2 km of NLEX-C5 Northink is expected to be done in 12 months

Motorists in Metro Manila, particularly those living on Mindanao Avenue and Quirino Highway, can expect additional expressway access as NLEX Corporation starts construction of the NLEX-C5 Northlink Section 1A project.
This was made official today after key members of the Metro Pacific Tollway Corporation (MPTC), the Department of Transportation (DOTr), Toll Regulatory Board (TRB), NLEX Corporation, and local government representatives held a groundbreaking ceremony this morning.
MPTC President and CEO Jose Ma. Lim, and NLEX OIC and Chief Finance Officer Maria Theresa Wells, Valenzuela City Mayor Wes Gatchalian, Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte together with partner government agencies DOTr-TRB, DPWH, and DHSUD-NHA led the groundbreaking ceremony for the initial two kilometers of the NLEX-C5 Northlink project.
The first 2 km section will extend NLEX from the Mindanao Toll Plaza to Quirino Highway through an elevated expressway that will be accessible to all types of vehicles 24/7. This translates to a more seamless route for motorists heading to and from Novaliches in Quezon City.

“We are enthusiastic about this project as it contributes to our ongoing efforts to reduce traffic congestion on local roads in the metro. At MPTC, we believe that unhindered mobility fosters better opportunities for jobs, businesses, and economic growth,” said MPTC president & CEO, Jose Ma. Lim.
The executive added they plan to finish the first 2 km segment in 12 months. They will also work closely with all stakeholders to minimize disruptions.
Upon completion, this project will improve access to the expressway from Metro Manila's west, east, north, and south sides. It will dramatically cut travel time and alleviate traffic congestion on major roads like EDSA, Commonwealth Avenue, Quirino Highway, and Mindanao Avenue, resulting in more efficient commutes and logistics operations.
In its entirety, the NLEX-C5 Northlink project will span 11.3 km from Mindanao Avenue to C5/C.P. Garcia, close to Katipunan Avenue which will allow for a more seamless connection between NLEX and C5 Road.
