Will the EQE SUV be Mercedes-Benz's first EV in PH?
The first Mercedes-Benz EQ model will be revealed soon

Around two months ago, AutoIndustriya.com reported that Mercedes-Benz PH's first all-electric EQ model will be launched this year. While the automaker was coy with the specifics, all signs pointed to the fact that they - like Audi, BMW, and Porsche - are gearing up to offer fully-electric models in the country.
As Mercedes-Benz already has the EQA, EQB, EQC, EQV, as well as the EQS, EQE, and their SUV counterparts, it was anyone's guess which EV the German luxury brand will bring to the Philippines later this year.

Fast forward to August, and Mercedes-Benz Philippines has revealed the first teaser of the yet-to-be-revealed EQ model. Based on the image itself, it looks like the brand's first EV in the country could be a crossover SUV. Looking at the front fascia of the mystery EV, it appears it will be the EQE SUV.
Serving as the brand's midsize all-electric luxury SUV, the EQE SUV is essentially the GLE (and the high-riding EQE sedan) without the carbon emissions guilt. It's underpinned by the brand's EVA2 modular architecture which is Mercedes-Benz's dedicated EV platform. It has a 90.6 kWh battery pack which gives it a range of around 550 km on a full charge based on the WLTP scale.

Depending on the variant, the electric crossover can have a single electric motor putting out 288 PS with 565 Nm of torque like in the EQE 350+. There's also an all-wheel drive version which produces the same amount of power but torque goes up to 764 Nm. There's also the more powerful Mercedes-AMG EQE SUV which doles out 617 PS and 950 Nm of torque thanks to a pair of upgraded motors and AMG-specific inverters. Get it with the AMG Performance package and output goes up even further to 677 PS and 1,000 Nm.
With Mercedes-Benz Philippines not yet revealing any more details about its new EQ model, all we can do for now is wait for more teasers or information to come out from the German automaker. Hopefully, we don't have to wait that long for its big reveal in the Philippines soon.
