We want Ford to bring in Everest Sport 4x2 with bi-turbo

Sometimes, we envy what other markets get that are not offered to us in the Philippines. While we already have the 2023 Ford Everest since July of this year, the top-spec version is the only one to get the 2.0-liter bi-turbo diesel powertrain that pushes out 210 PS and 500 Nm of torque. In addition, the bi-turbo engine is only available as a 4x4 model.

But over in Australia, the Blue Oval recently revealed a new variant of the Everest Sport and it comes with the brand’s powerful 2.0-liter bi-turbo diesel. However, it’s now also available as a 4x2 vehicle.

Say hello to the 2023 Everest Sport RWD, and boy are we green with envy with what The Land Down Under gets. As mentioned earlier, it’s powered by the familiar 2.0-liter bi-turbo EcoBlue diesel inline-four that makes over 200 PS plus 500 Nm of torque. But instead of being paired to a 4x4 drivetrain, this particular Everest Sport is strictly RWD. Combined with its 10-speed automatic transmission, this particular Everest is raring to go.

Aside from having the powerful turbo-diesel engine under the hood, the Everest Sport RWD also gets plenty of exterior and interior add-ons. It gets huge 20-inch alloy wheels, an Everest badge on the hood, an automatic power tailgate, leather seats with ‘Sport’ embossed on the backrests, power-adjustable front seats with a memory function for the driver, and an exclusive paint finish dubbed Blue Lightning.

With the introduction of Everest Sport RWD we are offering our customers more choice, with a very stylish vehicle that can tow the boat and fit the family in safety and comfort,” said Andrew Birkic, president and CEO of Ford Australia.

With the new Everest variant now in Australia, could Ford Philippines actually bring the Everest Sport RWD to the country? For now, only the Trend, Sport, and Titanium+ 4x2 models come with the 2.0-liter single-turbo setup which makes a respectable 170 PS with 405 Nm of torque. But should there be customer demand for the 2.0-liter bi-turbo RWD, maybe Ford could get a similar variant like what Australia recently acquired.

But for now, all we can do is hope and wish Ford actually makes this particular version available for the local market.
