We want 2025 Mitsubishi XForce HEV here in PH

It’s official, the Mitsubishi XForce is now available with an electrified powertrain. Making its world debut just days before this year’s Bangkok International Motor Show in Thailand is the 2025 Mitsubishi XForce HEV. Built and produced at the company’s Laem Chabang plant, the new Mitsubishi XForce HEV joins the brand’s offering of hybrid models in The Land of Smiles which already include the likes of the Xpander and Xpander Cross HEV models.

At the heart of the XForce HEV is a 1.6L hybrid powertrain that’s an evolution of the one used in its MPV siblings. The four-cylinder engine alone makes 107 PS with 134 Nm of torque and comes with a MIVEC system as standard. Thanks to an electric motor and a battery pack, the XForce HEV has a combined system output of 116 PS and 255 Nm of torque.

Unlike the Xpander HEV models, the XForce HEV has a smaller electric motor that’s designed to run more efficiently, especially at high speeds. It also has an electric water pump to reduce parasitic loss while also improving fuel consumption. It has a newly-developed two-speed transaxle that Mitsubishi claims will deliver better quietness at high speeds and improved acceleration when going uphill. 

The powertrain also comes with an automatic disconnect function which disconnects the motor from the driveshaft at high speeds. All of these features allow the XForce HEV to achieve a fuel economy of approximately 24.4 km/L. Last but not least, a total of seven drive modes are available which include; Normal, Wet, Gravel, Tarmac, Mud, EV, and Charge which focuses on replenishing the battery’s energy.

Style-wise, the XForce HEV looks relatively the same as the non-hybrid XForce. However, it does get some unique changes like a redesigned three-dimension Dynamic Shield grille, HEV badges on the front grille and tailgate, aerodynamic 18-inch alloy wheels, and more stylish front & rear bumper designs.

Hop inside and the cabin also relatively remains the same as before. It does come with a new gear selector which appears to be the same one found in the Xpander HEV units. As before, a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system comes as standard and supports wireless connectivity features like Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. More importantly, the Yamaha Dynamic Sound system has also been carried over for audiophiles to enjoy.

With the 2025 Mitsubishi XForce HEV now available in Thailand, we’re hoping Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) eventually brings it here. With more and more hybrid and plug-in hybrid models being offered in the country by Chinese automakers, MMPC may need to step up its electrification game.
