WATCH: Driver's license can be renewed in just 2 minutes in Dubai
Dubai already had it figured when it comes to renewing a driver's license

It’s your birthday, and besides celebrating it with your family or friends, another task needs to be accomplished soon: the renewal of your driver’s license.
Today, accomplishing this task has been easier than a few years ago, when it could have taken a few days and a couple of visits to the LTO.

Thanks to the LTO’s Land Transportation Management System (LTMS), a chunk of the renewal process can now be done online, wherever you are, anytime at your convenience. You’ll have to visit a Driver’s License Renewal Office (DLRO)—which are usually located inside malls—to complete the medical and claim the actual printout of your driver’s license.
In my experience, the renewal process took less than 30 minutes at the DLRO. But if I factor in the traffic along the way, fuel, and meryenda, this whole driver’s renewal process is still far from being something that I would look forward to.
Maybe, just maybe, if we include it in our birthday wishes, the LTO would cut all the BS nonsense and just make the driver’s license renewal process as easy as 1-2-3.
Apparently, in Dubai, UAE, they’ve already figured it out and made the driver’s license renewal as easy as 1-2-3, literally.
Just recently, we found this social media video from Tetiana Skoryna, an expat living in Dubai, UAE. What got us interested in her video is that the driver’s license renewal only took 2 minutes (or maybe less) and in just 3 easy steps on a vending machine!

Ok, it’s not exactly a vendo but rather a vendo-sized automated kiosk which appears to be located in a public-accessible area within the city. In the video, Tetiana walked towards the kiosk, entered her information (step 1), then proceeded to pay using an online payment option (step 2) until finally getting her new driver’s license card (step 3)—all in just 2 minutes.
While I would have liked to write more about it, their process was so simple and straightforward that there was nothing more to write about.
Picture this: you’re at the mall with your family, you quickly renew your driver’s license, and you’re done before they’ve even ordered at the restaurant. It’s a dream scenario.
