WATCH: 2023 BMW M3 Touring tears up Green Hell
M3 Touring is now the fastest wagon at the Nurburgring Nordschleife

BMW M indeed meant it when they said B'Ring it on.
There are only a few days left before the first-ever BMW M3 Touring's wraps come off at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. But even so, it has already claimed the official record for being the fastest wagon to ever lap the Nurburgring-Nordschleife circuit.
The 2023 BMW M3 Touring finished the 20.832-km track with a “notarized” lap time of 7 minutes and 35.060 seconds, smashing the previous record set in 2017 by the Mercedes-AMG E63 S by 10 seconds.
Driven by BMW M test driver Jörg Weidinger, the M3 Touring tackled the Green Hell in cloudy conditions, including some damp sections around the track which made the official run all the more impressive. During the run, the M3 Touring was still wearing its camouflage outside, but we were able to get a glimpse of the wagon's tan and black interior on the onboard video.
Furthermore, the official footage shows the M3 Touring with an 8-speed automatic gearbox, though a manual transmission variant with rear-wheel-drive has not been ruled out. Other details such as the M3 Touring's powertrain figures for its 6-cylinder M TwinPower Turbo engine are also yet to be disclosed by the manufacturer.
All of those speculations, of course, will be put to rest come June 23. The M3 Touring will be revealed in full detail at Goodwood, and it will climb together with the M4 CSL to celebrate 50 years of BMW M.
