Ford made a lot of noise just before the end of 2021 when they revealed the all-new Ranger. Not only did it have a new look, but Ford’s popular pick-up truck also had plenty of new tech, an upgraded chassis, a more stylish interior, and a new twin-turbo diesel V6 option.

But while Ford was able to impress us with the upcoming Ranger, some, on the other hand, wondered when the all-new Amarok will be revealed. That’s because the latest Amarok will now be based on the new Ford Ranger.

After releasing several design sketches of its next-generation pick-up truck last December, Volkswagen has revealed a new sketch of the all-new Amarok.

Based on the latest digital sketch, the Amarok will be bigger and bolder than its predecessor. For the first time, we are now able to catch a glimpse of the pick-up’s side profile. It gets chunky plastic cladding on the wheels, as well as a generous amount of ground clearance. We were also able to see a portion of its taillights which appear to have a C-shaped design.

Other details regarding the new Amarok are still a mystery. However, Volkswagen did confirm that it will be available with a V6 turbo-diesel engine. We’re not entirely sure if it’s the same twin-turbo diesel that will power the Ford Ranger. But given that both vehicles were co-developed by the two automakers, we won’t be surprised if that will be the case.

Aside from the V6 TDI, the Amarok could also come with Ford-derived engines like the 2.0-liter EcoBlue turbo-diesel engine, as well as the 2.3-liter EcoBoost gasoline turbo inline-four. Transmission options, on the other hand, could come in the form of a six-speed manual, six-speed automatic, and a ten-speed automatic.

With Volkswagen not yet announcing a launch date, we can only wait and see until they officially reveal the next-generation Amarok. What we do know, however, is that Volkswagen Philippines plans to bring it here sometime in 2023. We’re keeping our fingers crossed the automaker keeps its word.
