Tuner transforms Daihatsu Copen into a mini Porsche 911
This highly-modified kei car from Daihatsu wants to be a Porsche 911

Yes, you read that headline correctly just now. A Japanese-based tuner arrived at this year's Tokyo Auto Salon with a very unique-looking vehicle. They turned a first-generation Daihatsu Copen into a miniature Porsche 911.

First-generation Daihatsu Copen for reference
Dubbed the “Coperche 811 GT-K”, the heavily customized Daihatsu Copen was made possible by Japanese wheel specialist StanceMagic. Thanks to the wonders of modification and a fiberglass body kit, StanceMagic was able to transform the FWD Copen to look like the Porsche 911, albeit smaller.

The humble Copen gets custom bumpers, wider fenders, a redesigned rear, and a modified roofline that mimics the teardrop shape of the 911. The tuner also installed 997 headlights, 996 taillights, GT3-inspired bumper intakes, and a massive wing that provides extra downforce.

Other key changes StanceMagic made include a large rear diffuser, dual exhausts, deep dish alloy wheels from StanceMagic, “Coperche” decals, and a unique livery that further highlights the tuner's homage to the Porsche 911.

As for what's under the hood, the standard 660cc turbocharged three-cylinder has been replaced with a bigger 1.3L four-cylinder engine. It is then paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox. It won't exactly set record lap times but at least the Coperche will look good on the track. It also gets lowering springs, an upgraded braking system, bucket seats, a roll cage, and suede upholstery.

While we can't expect the Coperche 811 GT-K to become available as a production vehicle, it could inspire Copen owners to modify and dress up their humble kei car into something sportier.
