Toyota Yaris Cross gets five-star safety rating from ASEAN NCAP
The Yaris Cross delivered great results when it comes to passenger safety and impact tests

Thinking of getting a Yaris Cross or the newly-launched Yaris Cross SE HEV? Well, if you’re planning on getting one, we have some good news.
The B-SUV from Toyota was recently recognized by the ASEAN NCAP as one of the safest crossovers today after it scored a perfect five-star safety rating. Based on the test results conducted by ASEAN NCAP, the Yaris Cross demonstrated its ability to keep adults safe in both frontal and side impact safety tests.
Starting with the former, the crossover’s compartment remained stable in the frontal offset set. Data from the test dummy showed it was able to deliver good head protection and adequate chest protection for both the driver and front passenger. However, the driver’s right leg only delivered marginal protection, which is still acceptable. In the side impact test, the test dummy showed that the driver’s head and chest remained safe in the event of a side impact.
Dynamic test assessment for child seats rated for 18-month-olds and 3-year-olds also yielded good results. In both frontal and side impact tests, the child seats remained secure, and data from the test dummies showed that an 18-month old child or a 3-year old will survive such impacts.
Also recognized by the ASEAN-NCAP is the Yaris Cross’s intelligent driver aids via the Toyota Safety Sense. These allowed the crossover to pass more stringent tests, such as blind-detection and the autonomous emergency braking assessment tests. Other ADAS features, such as automatic high beams and pedestrian protection, were also recognized for helping the crossover be a safer vehicle.
Combined with other safety systems such as having 6 airbags across all variants, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, and lane-keep assist, the Toyota Yaris Cross passed with flying colors from the ASEAN NCAP.
