Toyota Raptor: First units of 224 PS 2024 Hilux GR Sport now in PH
Toyota Motor Philippines is gearing up to challenge the Ranger Raptor with new Hilux GR Sport

It's been a busy couple of months for Toyota Motor Philippines as they have been launching all-new models left and right. After the Yaris Cross, the all-new Alphard was spotted and could be the next on the list. But wait, there's more.

This time, it's not an all-new vehicle, but we reckon it's something that you guys (our readers) have been waiting for – Toyota PH already has its Ranger Raptor challenger with the beefed-up 2024 Hilux GR Sport. According to our insiders, the first batch of units has already arrived in the country, and more are coming.
We will keep you updated about what we can expect from the new Hilux GR Sport, but what we can tell you right now is that the exterior will be similar to the Australian-spec version with the wider fenders inspired by the Hilux Dakar rally truck.

Lately, we've been seeing shops in Banawe offering exterior conversion kits of the Hilux GR Sport. But soon, we'll see the real deal on the dealerships.
The upgraded 1GD engine has also found its way into the PH version of the updated Hilux GR Sport, as both the Philippines and Australia source Hilux units from Thailand. From 204 PS and 500 Nm of torque, the new Hilux GR Sport has its power bumped up to 224 PS and 550 Nm. This is more than what the 2.0-liter Biturbo from the PH-spec Ranger Raptor is making.
Just recently, Toyota Thailand even adopted the same engine in the updated Fortuner GR Sport.

As of the moment, we're still waiting for TMP to launch the all-new Alphard in the country. But we reckon once they have revealed the not-so-secret luxury MPV, the Hilux GR Sport could follow very shortly. It may even come earlier than the Alphard, as the Gazoo Racing Festival is set to happen later this month.
