Toyota Land Cruiser 300 crashes its way to five-star safety rating

If you’re one of the lucky owners that purchased an all-new Toyota Land Cruiser 300 early, we have some good news for you.

The Australasia New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP) has given Toyota’s flagship SUV a perfect five-star safety rating. Scoring a near-perfect 34.08 points out of 38, the SUV not only was able to protect its occupants but was also rated highly for its advanced safety features.

Starting with the crash test results, the Land Cruiser scored 89% in adult occupancy protection and 88% in child protection. On side-impact tests, the vehicle was able to protect both adults and children perfectly.

In a frontal-offset impact test, however, the driver has a greater risk of suffering injuries to the chest and right leg. The front passenger, on the other hand, received good protection in the frontal-offset impact test. Kids seated in the back also received good protection from the offset crash test.

Those worried about suffering neck injuries due to whiplash will be happy to know that the Land Cruiser 300 has adequate protection against this type of injury.

In both Australia and New Zealand, the SUV comes with a full suite of passive and active safety systems. It has a host of airbags, including ones on the side for front and rear passengers, as well as curtain airbags to protect passengers’ heads.

The Land Cruiser 300's biggest advantage would be the number of intelligent safety features. The SUV comes with adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, lane-keep assist, rear-cross traffic alert, multi-collision brake, pre-crash systems, and driver fatigue monitoring.

Its safety systems can also easily detect pedestrians and cyclists, further giving the flagship SUV added protection for those on the outside of the vehicle.
