This Lamborghini Urus is ready for (police) duty

Criminals in Italy who think they can outrun the police better think twice. The Italian Highway Police has procured a new vehicle into their fleet, and it's no ordinary car.

The House of The Raging Bull and the Italian Polizia di Stato (Italian State Police) recently celebrated their 20-year collaboration. To commemorate the partnership, Lamborghini delivered an Urus Performante to the Italian Highway Police. It's set to go into service in 2024 and comes with the performance pedigree of a regular Urus, and then some.

Knowing that our cars are used for public duties and, above all, for crucial operations to save human lives, can only make me and the whole company proud. These initiatives, which bring us great satisfaction, demonstrate our innate close ties with Italy,” said Stephan Winkelmann, CEO of Automobili Lamborghini.

The Urus Performante for the Italian Highway Police has been outfitted by Lamborghini technicians before its delivery. It has a unique livery designed by Lamborghini Centro Stile and combines the classic blue color with white combined with the tricolor bands on the sills and seat belt. It also comes with 360-degree blue LED lights on the roof, a two-tone electric siren, and police logos on the doors.

Inside, the cockpit has been customized for police work which includes an armored weapon box, a flip-down message display, a special compartment in the the trunk, and a defibrillator for first aid response. More importantly, it comes with a portable fridge for the transportation of organs or blood.

Under the hood, the Urus Performante for the Italian Highway Police comes with a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 that cranks out 666 PS and 850 Nm of torque. It can sprint from 0 – 100 km/h in 3.3 seconds as well as achieve a top speed of 306 km/h. It also comes with all-wheel drive which ensures grip over any terrain.

The Urus Performance will enter service and will chase down the bad guys who think they're fast. However, it will most likely serve a more noble cause in delivering organs to patients in need.
