This is your first look at all-new Toyota RAV4

When it comes to Toyota SUVs, the Fortuner is the undisputed king in the Philippine market. However, the RAV4 is the market leader in other parts of the world. In fact, the RAV4 recently dethroned the Ford F-150 as the best-selling vehicle in North America in 2024, ultimately ending the full-size pickup’s multi-year reign.

Come next week, we will bear witness to Toyota officially unveiling the latest generation RAV4. While the Japanese automaker has yet to call it by name, the teaser photos they recently released all point towards it. The brand is not yet ready to fully reveal the next-generation crossover SUV, although the teaser photos have given us a good idea of what to expect.

Starting with the exterior, Toyota decided to release several bird’s-eye views of the all-new RAV4. While it’s hard to discern what Toyota changed, it appears the next-generation crossover will borrow some design elements from the latest Camry and Prius. This can be seen in the headlight design, which appears to have a sleek wraparound design.

Aside from the exterior, Toyota also revealed a teaser photo of the RAV4’s latest cabin. Upon first glance, the next-generation RAV4 is not afraid to make use of boxy and rectangular shapes, which can be seen on parts of the dashboard. This can also be seen on the digital instrument cluster and the touchscreen infotainment system.

Other key aspects of the cabin that are worth mentioning are the new steering wheel, what looks to be a heads-up display, newly designed stalks, and what appears to be a restyled gear selector.

Powertrain details regarding the all-new RAV4 are not yet available. But based on insider info, the next-generation RAV4 is expected to get improved hybrid (HEV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrains. That means customers can expect the RAV4 to be more efficient, as well as produce more power.

We also won’t be surprised if its powertrain will be similar to the Camry’s, which has been the arrangement between the Camry and RAV4 for several years (and generations). Platform-wise, the crossover SUV could be underpinned by the brand’s latest TNGA-K platform.

With the all-new Toyota RAV4 set to debut on May 20 in the US (May 21 in Europe), we’ll be keeping a close eye on possible leaks and new information regarding the next-generation crossover SUV.
