This is the 2024 Mitsubishi Colt

Remember when Mitsubishi teased the all-new Mitsubishi Colt two months ago? After a brief hiatus, the Japanese automaker has officially revealed the 2024 Colt.

Set to hit European roads very soon, the next-generation hatchback is no longer a 100% Mitsubishi product. Instead, just like the all-new ASX revealed last year, the 2024 Colt is now Alliance-based.

Actually, it's basically a Renault Clio.

The Colt’s design is pretty much shared with the Renault Clio. From the aggressive LED headlights, sporty five-spoke alloy wheels, wraparound LED taillights, and wide rear quarter panels, the all-new Colt is a looker from every direction. The only telltale signs that this is indeed a Mitsubishi Colt and not a Renault Clio are the Dynamic Shield grille complete with the three-diamond star and the Mitsubishi lettering on the tailgate.

Like the exterior, the cabin of the Mitsubishi Colt was also derived (read: taken) from the Renault hatchback. Not that it’s a bad thing of course as it gives the Colt more character and vigor. Borrowing elements from the ASX/Captur, the interior comes with a digital instrument cluster, a touchscreen infotainment system that’s available in 7- or 9.3-inch sizes, a Bose sound system, Android Auto, and wireless Apple CarPlay. Recharging your mobile device can also be done via a wireless charging pad.

A total of three powertrain options are available for the 2024 Colt. It starts with a 1.0-liter naturally-aspirated three-cylinder that makes a humble 67 PS. For those that prefer a little more oomph, there’s also a turbocharged version of the three-cylinder mentioned earlier which makes more power at 91 PS. We’re willing to bet this could be the same engine that’s available in the PH-spec Nissan Almera which also comes from Renault.

Last but definitely not least is a 1.6-liter four-cylinder hybrid engine shared with the ASX/Captur. With the help of two electric motors and a 1.2-kWh lithium-ion battery pack, the electrified powertrain generates a total system output of 143 PS and is coupled to a 6-speed multi-mode automatic transmission. Platform-wise, the Mitsubishi Colt is underpinned by the Alliance CMF-B architecture.

A wide array of intelligent driver aids are available on the Mitsubishi Colt which serve as extra peace of mind while on the road. These are; adaptive cruise control, lane departure prevention, forward collision mitigation assist, lane departure warning, automatic high beam, easy park assist, traffic sign recognition, blind-spot warning, rear-cross traffic alert, and a 360-degree camera system for extra visibility.

The all-new Mitsubishi Colt will be manufactured at Renault’s Bursa plant in Turkey and is set to be offered in European markets starting in October 2023. This will also mark the return of the hatchback to The Old World after nine years.
