Next-gen BMW M2 is tearing up the track
BMW tests new M2 coupe and gets it ready for October launch

When one gets inside an M series, BMW's sheer driving pleasure is elevated to an almost track-level pedigree. The Bavarian Engine Works company aka BMW is in the final stages of testing out its latest M offering. The M2 is set to conquer track days foreign and maybe local.

The M GmbH division is wrapping up testing and says that performance may be compared to the previous M2 CS. Reports indicate that this high-performance vehicle has been torching the race track at Salzburging in Austria where the automaker has been tuning the car’s driving dynamics and more.

Performance is delivered by the provided M3 and M4 engine models. They are also putting two types of gearboxes through their paces. A 6-speed manual and an 8-speed M steptronic that sends power to the famed rear-wheel-drive M system. Even the car’s braking system will be based on the M3 and M4 systems. This will give the car effortless control on or off the track.

The M series has always given off a sporty vibe. The upcoming M2 will have nods to the legacy that they have built throughout the years. Special equipment options will be offered once finalized. A carbon roof will be optional for further weight reduction among other benefits. Driver and passenger M carbon bucket seats will also be available to promote that M-inspired sporty goodness.

The M2 will also have a fully digital gauge and infotainment system. BMW has unveiled photos with a massive screen stretching across the dashboard. Nothing is final yet as October is still far away.
Final details have yet to be released. Other details like the CO2 emissions and fuel consumption are yet to be revealed as the vehicle is still in the prototype phase.

The latest BMW M2 will have its world premiere in October of this year. With a market launch in April of next year, BMW is taking its time when it comes to finalizing the coupe’s overall performance. This will also be the company’s last pure petrol engine as the German company has been reported saying that the next vehicles bearing the M badges will be electrified.
