These Metro Manila roads will undergo repair this Holy Week
If you are staycationing in the metro, avoid these roads when joyriding

While most Filipinos fly or drive out of Metro Manila for the Holy Week, a select few stay to experience a quiet, relaxed, and more importantly traffic-free metropolis.
During this time of the year, it would be a good idea to go cruising in your coupes, sportscars, or motorbikes. If you are already planning your routes, take note of a few places to avoid because the Department of Public Works and Highways, telco firms, and water companies will be conducting repairs starting at 11:00 PM today, March 27, until Monday, April 1 at 5:00 AM.
Quezon City has the greatest number of affected roads. These include the following:
- Batasan-Commonwealth Tunnel, Filinvest 1 Road to fronting Sandigan (1st lane from plantbox, Quezon City
- West Avenue, Ligaya St. to Del Monte Avenue (1st lane from sidewalk), Quezon City
- Luzon Avenue SB, Congressional Avenue Ext. to before Luzon Flyover (1st lane from center), Quezon City
- Commonwealth Avenue, Landbank to Elliptical Road (3rd lane from sidewalk), Quezon City
- Mindanao Avenue, Tandang Sora Avenue to Longines St. (truck lane), Quezon City
- Mindanao Avenue Tunnel to Sauyo Road (truck lane), Quezon City
- Payatas Road, Batasan Road to Bayanihan St., Quezon City
- Payatas Road between Singko St. & Leyte St., Quezon City
- Payatas Road before Maynilad Pumping Station to Petron Gas Station (1st lane from sidewalk), Quezon City
- IBP-San Mateo Road, Quezon City
- EDSA SB South Triangle 4th Diliman infront of VS Hotel (1st lane), Quezon City
- EDSA SB South Triangle 4th Diliman near GMA Network (1st lane), Quezon City

In Caloocan City, road works will happen in the following areas:
- Rizal Avenue in South Caloocan City
- San Miguel & C4 T. Bugallon to Dagat-Dagatan Avenue, Caloocan City
Roaming around the Paranaque, Pasay area? Do not be caught in these places:
- Roxas Boulevard NB between Lourdes St. & Vicente Sotto St., Pasay City
- Roxas Boulevard NB between Remedios St. & Pasaje Del Carmen St., Pasay City
- Boulevard EDSA Flyover SB bridge approach (outer lane & inner lane), Pasay City
- South Super Highway East Service Road, Parañaque City
If you will frequent Makati and Mandalyong, plan around these routes:
- EDSA NB Guadalupe before bridge (3rd lane), Makati City
- EDSA NB Guadalupe P. Burgos St. near Jollibee and McDonald's (4th lane), Makati City
- EDSA NB Guadalupe JP Rizal Ext. (2nd lane), Makati City
- EDSA NB Guadalupe JP Rizal Ext. near Stoplight (2nd lane), Makati City
- And finally, if you will be joyriding in Manila, avoid Pres. Quirino Avenue between Taft Avenue & Leviriza St., A. Mabini St., Alonzo St., Malvar St., & San Andres, Manila City
- EDSA NB after Madison St. (2nd lane from sidewalk), Mandaluyong City
- EDSA NB after Reliance St. (2nd lane from sidewalk), Mandaluyong City
- EDSA SB fronting JB Sports (2nd lane from center island), Mandaluyong City
- EDSA SB fronting Shell Gas Station beside Bus Lane concrete barriers, Mandaluyong City
Portions of the following flyovers will be temporarily closed to traffic from March 27 at 10:00 AM until April 1 at 4:00 AM to give way to expansion joint repairs.
- Pasig Boulevard C5 Road Flyover southbound
- Truck lane along C5 Ortigas Flyover southbound
Meanwhile, water concessionaire Manila Water will undertake a 24-hour emergency leak repair along EDSA in front of Home Depot Balintawak area from March 28 to March 29.
We know that is a lot to remember, but if you can find a way to input the data into Waze or Google Maps, that would go a long way in ensuring that the next time you encounter traffic will be on back-to-work Monday, April 1. Have fun, and drive safe.
