Suzuki uses virtual Hayabusa engine for Gran Turismo racer

For long-time Gran Turismo fans, do you remember the GSX-R/4 concept before? Here's its newer and wilder brother.

As part of update 1.15 for Gran Turismo 7, gamers can now drive the Suzuki Vision Gran Turismo – a follow-up on the aforementioned GSX-R/4 concept but was updated to today's standards.

The new speedster has the looks of the Suzuki Swift Sport and even wears the hot hatchback's two-tone alloy wheels. Quite simply, the Suzuki VGT is a wider and meaner-looking Swift Sport with its roof chopped off.

Like the previous concept, the Suzuki VGT still uses the high-revving 1.3-liter inline-four engine from the Hayabusa sports bike but is now complemented by three electric motors – two in front, and one at the back. This technically makes the new speedster go from a rear-wheel-drive to a mid-engine, all-wheel-drive layout.

Their combined power output is rated at 426 PS and 610 Nm of torque. The VGT weighs less than 1,000 kg, but it's significantly heavier than the previous one, as the GSX-R/4 only weighed 640 kg.

Aside from the Suzuki VGT, update 1.15 also comes with the 2021 Toyota GR010 Hybrid and the Roadster Shop Rampage Camaro as the new car offerings in Gran Turismo 7, and also adds the “New Orleans” location to the featured section of GT Scapes.

Sadly though, like other Vision GT concepts, the Suzuki speedster only exists in the virtual world. But either way, it's going to be interesting how this one drives. Better fire up your PlayStations and start updating.
